Gaming is constantly evolving, shaped by new technologies, changing player behaviors, and emerging markets. At GFR Fund, we look beyond traditional game studios to invest in companies that are redefining the industry—whether through innovative game content, infrastructure, or platforms that support the broader ecosystem.

We’re always on the lookout for startups that push boundaries, offering fresh solutions that enhance the gaming experience. At the same time, we recognize that success in this industry is built on strong relationships, and we value collaborations with publishers, VCs, and other key stakeholders shaping the future of gaming.

What we look for in gaming investments

Rather than focusing on conventional game development, we invest in companies that introduce something new to the space—whether in the way games are built, played, or monetized. Our portfolio reflects this approach:

Innovative game studios with a unique edge

We back studios that offer more than just great content—they bring a unique vision that sets them apart:

  • Pocket Frens – Leveraging AI to create smarter, more immersive gaming experiences.
  • SuperGaming – Building games designed for emerging markets, expanding gaming’s global reach.
  • Loftia – A community-driven game that fosters meaningful player interactions.

The gaming ecosystem: platforms, infrastructure, and tools

Gaming isn’t just about content—it’s also about the platforms and infrastructure that power it. We invest in companies that provide essential tools and services for developers and publishers, ensuring the industry continues to scale efficiently:

  • Solsten – Using AI and data-driven insights to enhance game development and player engagement.
  • Edgegap – Optimizing game server infrastructure to improve multiplayer experiences.
  • STAN – Creating a next-generation social hub for gamers, creators, and esports.

Bringing the gaming ecosystem together at Founders' Day

Recently, we hosted GFR Founders' Day, bringing together gaming and startup leaders for a day of insightful discussions, rapid-fire networking, and meaningful connections. The event featured a panel discussion on startup building, where industry experts and our leading portfolios shared their perspectives on emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities in the space.

The speed dating sessions provided founders with the chance to engage directly with investors, exchanging ideas and exploring potential collaborations in an efficient, high-energy format. The day concluded with a networking mixer, where attendees connected over shared experiences and future ambitions.

Founders' Day reinforced what we believe in at GFR: the best innovations in gaming come not just from bold ideas, but from the relationships that bring them to life. As we continue investing in the next generation of gaming startups, we remain committed to fostering a strong and collaborative ecosystem.
